S-Band FMCW Radar

The S-band FMCW radar is a vertically profiling radar for studying the atmospheric boundary layer.  By simultaneously transmitting and receiving a continuous frequency-modulated waveform, it achieves vertical resolution as fine as 2.5 m and is sensitive enough to see minute fluctuations in the refractive index of the air.  It is also very good at seeing individual insects.
